Battle Report
Below is a battle we played to test out Aurelian ships, cloaking systems, and plasma torpedo rules. Some may recognize the ship miniatures (and images on the ship forms) from an older game from the 1980s. We simply used these miniatures as substitutes and copied and pasted those images onto the ship forms. While we edited the images on our ship forms, these are actually two Union Starforce ships (Exeter I-class Heavy Cruiser and Pellew IV-class frigate) against two Aurelian ships (Defensor Allatus I-class Heavy Cruiser and a Tonitrus-class Heavy Cruiser).
ROUND 1: The Union and Aurelian ships moved toward each other. The Aurelians had not even bothered to cloak during the approach.
ROUND 1/Phase 1: The Union and Aurelian ships moved toward each other.
ROUND 1/Phase 2: During the second phase, the Union Heavy Cruiser and frigate fired their antimatter torpedoes at long range, scoring a total of 29 points of damage, causing 15 points of internal damage to the Aurelian Tonitrus cruiser.
ROUND 1/Phase 3: In the third phase, they each passed each other, with the Aurelians launching plasma torpedoes.
Round 2/ Phase 1: Aurelian ships slowed and made a hard right turn. The Union ships increased their speed to 5 to create separation from the plasma torpedoes. The plasma torpedoes moved at speed 3 during phase 1.
Round 2/Phase 2: The torpedoes accelerate to speed 6 in pursuit of the Exeter.
Round 2/Phase 3: “Brace for Impact!” The torpedo accelerates to speed 9 and catches the retreating Exeter, damaging its after shield. The Pellew frigate turns left to engage the approaching Aurelian ships.
Round 3/Phase 1: The Pellew makes an alpha strike at the Defensor Alatus, which returned fire with three disruptors and launches 2 plasma torpedoes at the Pellew. The Exeter begins a left turn to get back into the fight.
Round 3/Phase 2: In the second phase, Exeter struck the Defensor Alatus as well. Its forward and starboard shields are down. The two plasma torpedoes launched at the Pellew impact, while another small torpedo is launched at the Pellew from the Defensor Alatus.
Round 3/Phase 3: The Pellew is struck on its Starboard shield by another small plasma torpedo. The Exeter pursues the Defensor Alatus, while the badly damaged Tonitrus slowly comes about to re-engage.
Rounds 4 and 5:
ROUND 4: During phase 1, the Defensor Alatus made a hard left while the Pellew class frigate fired phasers at it. In the second phase, Exeter struck the Defensor Alatus through a down shield, causing 17 points of internal damage.
ROUND 5: Tonitrus races to save the Defensor Alatus, while another torpedo hits the Pellew. In the end, the Defensor Alatus is destroyed while the Pellew is damaged. The Tonitrus’ captain, realizing it is now outmatched, disengages from the battle.
